Transmission Position Switch/Sensor: Procedures

Tiptronic switch F189, removing and installing, 09L, 6 Spd. A/T AWD

Comprises 3 Hall sensors actuated by a magnet on the transverse slide of sliding cover

Also check that magnet is properly secured on transverse slide of sliding cover, replace sliding cover with guide if necessary.

Removing

Remove selector mechanism cover.

-

Press 4 locking hooks -arrows- inward and pull cover -2- off guide -1-.

-

Take printed circuit with integrated Tiptronic switch F189 out of cover.

Note:

If necessary, the sliding cover with the magnet for the Tiptronic switch F189 can be removed as described below. However, as a replacement
part the sliding cover is only available together with the guide.

Carefully separate two halves of guide by levering them apart -arrows-

Remove sliding cover with magnet for Tiptronic switch F189.

Installing

Installation is performed in reverse sequence. Note the following:

Install selector mechanism cover.

Install selector lever handle.
