Resetting Without Scan Tool

Service Reminder Indicator (SRI), Resetting After Service (without VAG 1551/1552)

Switch ignition OFF.

-

Press odomenter and instrument cluster reset buttons while switching ignition ON.
The following will appear on the odometer display:

"OIL"

-

Pull clock button until "OIL" is reset.
The following will appear on the odometer display:

"- - -"

-

Press odometer reset button to advance to next service event.
The following will appear on the odometer display:

"INSP"

-

Pull clock button until "INSP" is reset.
The following will appear on the odometer display:

"- - -"

-

Switch ignition OFF.

Note:  This image is from the removal procedure and is included for reference only. It shows both the cover trim -1- pivoted away toward the front
and also the mounting screws -2-. Neither are required for resetting the Service Reminder Light, they are related to the removal procedure.
