Condition

After filling vehicle, the fuel gauge stops short of the full mark.

A voltage drop at the common ground of fuel gauge, fuel pump and rear lights can cause this condition.

Production:

As of 7/95 production VIN 8DTA004690, a separate ground wire from fuel gauge sender to the left "A" pillar is installed.

Service:

If a vehicle prior to VIN 8DTA004690 exhibits this condition:

Obtain radio code, note customers preset radio station settings.

Disconnect battery ground (GND) strap.

-

Remove rear seat bottom.

-

Locate the 0.5 mm ground wire to fuel sender (comes from a 4 wire harness near the right rear seating position) as shown.

Note:

There are two brown ground wires in this harness (1.5 mm and 0.5 mm), locate the 0.5 mm wire!
