Apply loctite to threads of both horn-plate screws (2); insert screws and torque to 5 +/- 0.5 Nm (44 in-lbs)

Reinstall cover plate (5); ensure that it "snaps" properly into position at the top and bottom

Reconnect air bag electrical connection, then reinstall air bag unit

^

Install air bag-mounting screws (1) by hand; first tighten right torx screw, then the left. Torque 10 +/- 2 Nm (7 ft-lbs)

CAUTION:

Always disconnect the battery ground (GND) cable before working on air bag or other related systems.

Check Ground Connection

Record preset radio stations

^

Obtain radio code

^

Check system with the VAG 1551

^

DISCONNECT BATTERY GROUND CABLE AND COVER THE BATTERY TERMINAL
