‹› As a result of the contact resistances at the various connectors, resistance values of up to approx. 25 ohms can be measured. As soon as a voltage

of 12 V is applied, these contact resistances decrease and do not affect the function of the seat heater. 

‹› In vehicles with steering on the right, the driver seat is connected to contact "2" and the passenger seat is connected to contact " 1".  

‹› The resistance value of the seat heating elements changes with the temperature (at a seat temperature of 20°C, the resistance value is approx. 1.9

ohms).

‹› Since resistances less than 10 ohms cannot be measured with sufficient exactness using workshop tools, a short circuit in the wire connection or

the seat heating elements cannot be determined.

‹› If the resistance is too great, check the wire connections to the heating elements of the heated seats for open circuit and introduce corrective

measures. If the open circuit is in the seat, repair the seat.

Connect connectors - D - and - F - to the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head (all connectors are now connected to the
Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head).

Conduct the wiring to connector - F - terminal " 1" (terminal "2" in vehicles with steering on the right) through the inductive pickup 50 A (VAS
5051/9).

Set the "multimeter: current 50A inductive pickup" operating mode in the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A).

Set both thumb wheels for heated seats (on the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head) to position " 0".

‹› All connections on the Climatronic control module ( J255) A/C control head must be attached.

Start the engine.

Set the thumb wheel for the driver seat heating element to position " 6".

‹› Target value: The display changes from approx. 0 A to less than 10 A

-

Set the thumb wheel for the driver seat heating element to position " 0".

‹› Target value: The display changes from less than 10 A to approx. 0 A

-

Conduct the wiring to connector - F - terminal " 2" (terminal "1" in vehicles with steering on the right) through the inductive pickup 50 A (VAS
5051/9).

Set the thumb wheel for the passenger seat heating element to position " 6".

‹› Target value: The display changes from approx. 0 A to less than 10 A

Set the thumb wheel for the passenger seat heating element to position " 0".

‹› Target value: The display changes from less than 10 A to approx. 0 A
