Battery, Preparing for Charging

Procedure

CAUTION!
Risk of explosion on discharged battery with "visual indicator ".

‹› If the "visual indicator" has no color or is light yellow, the battery may not be tested or charged. Jump starting must not be used!

There is a risk of explosion during testing, charging or jump starting. The battery must be replaced.

Before the battery charger can be connected, the following preparations are necessary:

‹› It is recommended that the battery be charged with terminal clamps disconnected.

CAUTION!
For vehicles with Telematics, activate service mode of Telematics control module before disconnecting the battery.

On vehicles with coded radio control module/radio navigation system (only other manufacturers), note code, obtain if necessary.

Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.

Slide the cover over the battery to the right - arrow 1  - and remove it - arrow 2 -.

Loosen nut - 1 - a few turns and remove ground wire terminal clamp from battery terminal.

Loosen the nut - 2 - a few turns and remove the positive wire terminal clamp from the battery terminal.
