Shift Interlock Cable: Service and Repair
Locking Lever (Through VIN 8E_6A156499), Removing and Installing

Locking lever (through VIN 8E_6A156499), removing and installing - 01J, Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)

1- Locking cable

Removing

Note:

Do not kink locking cable.

CAUTION!

Observe procedures for disconnecting battery.

Disconnect Ground (GND) wire at battery.

-

Remove storage compartment on drivers side.

-

Remove steering column trim.

-

Remove A/C system operating unit.

-

Remove ashtray in center console.

-

Remove cover for shift mechanism.

-

Turn ignition key into driving position ( "ignition on" ).

-

Place selector lever in position "P".

-

Lift retaining clip -2- from interlock lever and pull locking cable -1- out of ignition/starter switch.

-

Lift securing spring -4- for locking cable and pull locking cable support bracket -5- on shift mechanism sideways and disengage locking cable eye.
