If installed, remove heat shield - arrows - for drive axle (left side).

Remove drive axle- 1 - from flange shaft and tie as far as possible to front, taking care not to damage surface protection.

Place drip tray (V.A.G 1306) underneath.

Remove flange shaft (left side); to do so, secure puller (T10037) to cover for final drive - arrow -.
-
Pry out flange shaft oil seal.
