Covering up slits in air duct to rear vents
Covering up slits in air duct to rear vents
  Note
This air duct is engaged at the air outlet openings of the air conditioning unit. The air duct is provided with slits for this purpose. Given an unfavourable flap position, a whistling noise may occur at these slits in certain settings, particularly on vehicles with an air conditioner of the „Deluxe“ type. For this reason the upper slits are covered over with adhesive tape at the factory (gradual introduction of adhesive strip as of Febr. 2009).
–  Cover the top of the centre console to guard against damage.
–  Remove the radio -R- / multimedia system operating unit -E380- → Electrical system; Rep. gr.91
–  Remove the air conditioner operating and display unit, Climatronic control unit -J255- → Chapter.
–  If fitted, remove the control unit for front display and information control panel -J523- → Electrical system; Rep. gr.91.

–  Reach into the centre console opening and seal each of the two upper slits -A- in the air duct -C- on the left and right with an adhesive strip -B- (approx. 2 cm x 4 cm, made of air-tight material).
  Note
t  The slits -A- are concealed by the brace -D-.
t  Two adhesive strips -B- can be cut out of the damping washer (replacement part no. 8E0 260 329) for example → Electronic parts catalogue.
