Start up the air conditioner after charging the refrigerant circuit → Chapter.
Note t
Depending on the position of the service connection at the refrigerant line and the vehicle model, it may be necessary to remove the additional body brace stiffener on the left to permit connection of the service coupling of the air conditioner service station (e.g. on the Audi Q5) → Running gear; Rep. gr.40 and → Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a
t
The air conditioner compressors fitted at the start of production were mechanically driven and manufactured by „Denso“ (type „6 SEU 14“ for vehicles with a 4 and 6-cyl. engine and type „7 SEU 17“ for vehicles with an 8-cyl. FSI engine). Different makes of air conditioner compressor may also be fitted at a later date → Electronic parts catalogue and → Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a.
t
Not all replacement air conditioner compressors have the same oil capacity. Attention is therefore to be paid to the exact part number → Electronic parts catalogue and → Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a. The different oil quantities result from the design of the air conditioner compressor (heed oil quantities). Too much oil in the circuit results in higher pressures and reduced system cooling output. Too little oil may lead to lubrication problems in the air conditioner compressor.
t
Always fill the refrigerant circuit as far as the upper tolerance limit (some refrigerant remains in the filler hoses).
t
Refrigeration oil from containers which have been open for a long time is not suitable for use (PAG oil absorbs moisture) and is not to be re-used.
t
The design of the condenser fitted on the Audi RS 5 is different to that of the other vehicles in this series. The length of the refrigerant lines may also be different from that on the other vehicles. Pay attention to proper assignment and the correct refrigerant R134a capacity → Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a and → Electronic parts catalogue.
