Removing and installing exhaust gas recirculation cooler - engine codes CAMA, CAMB, CAPA

Removing –  Drain coolant → Chapter. –  Remove particulate filter: A5 up to vehicle identification no. 8T-8-009 998 → Chapter; A4 (all), A5 from vehicle identification no. 8T-8-009 999 onwards → Chapter. –  Remove intake manifold (top section) → Rep. gr.23.

–  Remove intake manifold (bottom section, right-side) → Rep. gr.23. –  Remove coolant pipe (rear left) → Chapter. –  Remove rear coolant pipe (right-side) → Chapter. –  Remove exhaust gas recirculation control motor -V338- → Chapter.

–  Unplug electrical connector -1-. –  Carefully press linkage -2- off ball stud -arrow-. –  Remove bolts -3- and detach intake manifold flap motor 2 -V275--item 4-.

–  Remove bolts -arrows- and -1-.

–  Detach vacuum hose -arrow- from positioning element for exhaust gas recirculation flap. –  Remove bolts -1 ... 5-.   Note Procedure if coolant hose is stuck → Anchor –  Lift exhaust gas recirculation cooler with coolant hoses off cylinder block.

–  Clean coolant connections in cylinder block -1- and -2-. Procedure if coolant hose is stuck

–  Use e.g. saw blade or knife to cut through coolant hose -1-. –  Lift exhaust gas recirculation cooler with coolant hose -2- on right side off cylinder block (guide out coolant hose -2-). –  Guide exhaust gas recirculation cooler around coolant hose connection and lift off. –  Remove coolant connection.

–  Clean coolant connections in cylinder block -1- and -2-. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: l  Tightening torque → Chapter „Exhaust gas recirculation system - exploded view“   Note t  Renew gaskets and O-rings. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Electronic parts catalogue. –  Install intake manifold flap motor 2 -V275- → Rep. gr.23. –  Install exhaust gas recirculation control motor -V338- → Chapter. –  Install coolant pipe (rear right) → Chapter. –  Install coolant pipe (rear left) → Chapter. –  Install bottom section of intake manifold (right-side) and top section of intake manifold → Rep. gr.23. –  Install particulate filter: A5 up to vehicle identification no. 8T-8-009 998 → Chapter; A4 (all), A5 from vehicle identification no. 8T-8-009 999 onwards → Chapter. –  Fill up with coolant → Anchor.
