Disconnect electrical connection - 1 -.
-
Remove the bolts - 2 - on the back side.

Push Telephone Baseplate (R126) upward out of storage compartment.
Installing

Install in reverse order.
Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Fastener Tightening Specifications ] See: Specifications
Telephone Transceiver
The Telephone Transceiver (R36) is located under the front passenger's seat.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
‹› Protective Cap for Cable Connector (VAS 6223/9)

Turn off all electrical consumers.

Remove ignition key.

If control module is replaced, select "Replacement" function for appropriate control module in "Guided Fault-Finding" routine.
Use the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051) to do so.
Removing

Position right front seat all the way back.
-
Fold back the floor mat.

Disengage cover of E-box - 2 - and open the E-box - 1 -.
