Procedure

Camshafts, removing. Refer to => [ Camshafts ] See: Service and Repair.

Mark the allocation of the roller rocker lever and the hydraulic adjusting elements so they can be installed again.

If necessary, remove the roller rocker levers with the hydraulic adjusting elements and place them on a clean surface.

Secure the Dial Gauge Holder (VW 387) with the Dial Gauge (VAS 6079) on the cylinder head as shown in the illustration.

Determine the axial play.
‹› Axial clearance: 0.100 to 0.191 mm.
