Lower Intake Manifold with Fuel Rail

Lower Intake Manifold with Fuel Rail

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

‹› Open end wrench socket 17 mm (V.A.G 1331/2)

Removing

‹› The following removal and installation procedure is for the left lower section of the intake manifold. The procedure for the other side is identical. 

CAUTION!
There is a risk of injury because the fuel is under very high pressure. 

‹› Before opening high pressure area of the fuel injection system, fuel pressure must be relieved to residual pressure => [ Before Opening

High Pressure Fuel Injection System ] See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Fuel Pressure Release/Service and Repair

‹› To reduce remaining residual pressure, lay a clean cloth around the connector and carefully loosen connector.

Remove upper section of intake manifold => [ Upper Intake Manifold ] See: Upper Intake Manifold.

Disconnect electrical connector on fuel pressure sensor (G247) - 2 -.

Remove union nut - 1 -.

-

Remove bolts and nuts - arrows - and remove lower section of intake manifold with fuel rail.

‹› Plug intake ports of cylinder head with clean cloths.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

‹› Replace seals and O-rings.

‹› Lubricate fuel injector O-rings lightly with clean engine oil.

Press lower section of intake manifold with fuel rail evenly onto fuel injectors.

Tighten bolts and nut - arrows - on lower section of intake manifold diagonally in stages.
