Oil Filter: Service and Repair

Engine oil, draining and replacing oil filter

Note: If the engine oil is drained and not siphoned out (using an oil suction device), replace the sealing ring for the oil drain plug to prevent leaks.

Remove noise insulation panel to drain engine oil at drain plug.  See: Body and Frame/Sound Proofing / Insulation/Service and Repair

Tightening torque of oil drain plug: 30 Nm (22 ft lb)

Replace oil filter .

-

Top off engine oil.

-

Check engine oil level.

-

Repeat check of engine oil level.

Replacing oil filter

Note: RS6 requires removal of front stabilizer bar mounting bolts to subframe for access to remove filter

WARNING! Always dispose of used engine oil properly.

Loosen and remove oil filter - arrow - using oil filter wrench.

-

Clean sealing surface on engine (filter flange).

-

Lightly lubricate rubber seal on new oil filter.

-

Thread on new filter and tighten by hand.
