Control Module: Testing and Inspection

Transmission Control Module (TCM), coding

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) can be coded.

Note:  Coding can only be performed with the ignition ON and with the selector lever in position "P" or "N." The accelerator pedal must be in the idle
position. The vehicle must be stationary and the engine must not be started.

Test procedure

Connect VAS 5051 Vehicle Diagnosis, Measurement and Information System and select vehicle system "02 Transmission Electronics". Ignition
must be switched on.

Display on VAS 5051

Touch -1- diagnostic function "07 Coding control module".

Display on VAS 5051:

1 - Enter code word 

^

On keypad -2- enter control module code as given in code chart

Confirm entry by pressing Q button.

Note:  After coding, the Transmission Control Module DTC memory is a automatically deleted.
