Roll Rate Sensor: Service and Repair
Sensor For Transverse Acceleration (from MY 2002 On), Removing And Installing
WARNING: Observe the safety precautions for working on airbags.
NOTE: There is a sensor for transverse acceleration left and right installed behind the bottom trim on the B-pillar.
Sensors for transverse acceleration left and right identical.
For installation the -arrow- points outward.
Removal:
See Caution before beginning repairs on the electrical system

Disconnect battery ground strap and connection.

Remove lower B-pillar trim.

Remove the connector - 3 - by pulling the restraining hook off the sensor for transverse acceleration - 1 -.

Remove the screws - 2 - (2x). Torque 7 Nm.

Remove sensor for transverse acceleration - 1 -.
Installation:

Install the sensor for transverse acceleration - 1 -.

Install the lower B-pillar trim.

Switch on ignition.
-
Close doors.
WARNING: Make sure that no one is inside the vehicle.
See Caution for connecting Telematics battery.

Connect battery ground strap.
NOTE:

After connecting battery, check vehicle equipment (radio, clock, power windows) as per Repair Manual and/or Owner's manual.

If the airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) -K75- signals a malfunction after assembling then the DTC memory must be erased and
checked again with VAG 1551 scan tool.
