Hand-tighten VAG 1907. - Pay attention to bulkhead boot.

Note:  Always replace damaged seals. Check seal for proper seating!

Position steering gear on plenum.

Note:  Make sure threads and contact surfaces of bolts are free of oil and grease.

Install bolts -1- and -2-, but do not tighten.

^

Screw in bolt -3- and tighten.

^

Tighten bolts -1- and -2-.

^

Screw on return hose and tighten banjo bolt (22 mm wrench) to 50 Nm.

^

Screw on pressure hose and tighten banjo fitting (19 mm wrench) to 40 Nm.

^

Release steering lock.

^

Center steering wheel, then install universal join on steering pinion.

^

Install adjusting bolt (Torx T50) and tighten counterclockwise.

^

Unbolt VAG 1907 tool from steering gear.
1. Socket head bolt
2. Thread bore in steering gear

^

Seal steering gear using hex socket bolt -1-; Tighten to 13 Nm.

^

Tighten hex nut for adjusting bolt to 30 Nm.

^

Install driver's side storage compartment.

^

Install wheel housing cover.

^

After completing installation of steering gear, remove 3094 hose clamps.
