Ball Joint: Service and Repair

Removing

Remove wheel.
^
Unscrew hex bolts for control arm to axle beam.

Unscrew hex bolt -2- and remove control arm -1-.
Installing
Installation is the reverse of removal.

Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent The bolted connections should therefore only be tightened when the vehicle is
standing on the ground.
Otherwise, the rubber bushing will be stressed and have a shortened service life.
Tightening torques:
Control arm to axle beam ............................................................................................................................................................................................ 95 Nm
Control arm to wheel bearing housing ............................................................................................................................................................... 70 Nm + 90°
