Seal For Front Final Drive, Replacing

Seal for front final drive, replacing
Removing

Remove front left exhaust pipe with de-coupling element

^

Remove transfer case

^

Remove bolts (arrows) at intermediate flange for front final drive.

CAUTION:  
^

Slowly and carefully lift off Intermediate flange for front final drive from transfer case housing. Otherwise the spur gears can fall out of the
transfer case.

Spur gears which have fallen onto the ground may not be reinstalled. In this case the transfer case must be replaced.

Lift off intermediate flange for front final drive.

Note:  
^

Do not remove spur gears for front final drive. Secure spur gears so they don't fall out.

^

If the spur gears for front final drive were removed, the wheel marking must face outward (away from transmission) for reinstallation.

Installation position of spur gears and notes.

Installing

Installation is the reverse of removal. Also carry out the following procedures:

Check if bushing -A- is installed

^

Insert new seal.

^

Insert intermediate flange for front final drive.

CAUTION:  The seating lips of the seat (arrow) may be damaged If the Intermediate flange Is placed onto the drive pinion without proper care.
