Use VW 681 to pull out drive flange oil seal.

Note:  Do not damage the fitting surfaces for the oil seal.

Design of drive flange with polygon bearings
1. Drive flange
2. Needle bearings (polygon bearings)
3. Spacer ring
4. Circlip
5. Spacer ring - not fitted

Notes:

Unsmooth running of the polygon bearings when the flanged shaft is not installed is not an indication of damage to the bearings. An acoustic
check is only possible when the bearings are installed.

Examine the polygon bearings for damage (e.g. cracks in the outer race of the bearing).

The polygon bearings can only be replaced together with the drive flange.

Installing 

Install in reverse order, paying attention to following:

Moisten outer circumference and sealing lip of oil seal with gear oil.

Installation position: Open side of oil seal must face transmission.
