Radial Input Shaft Seal

Radial input shaft seal, replacing 

ATF discharged from the underside of the bell housing is an indication that the radial input shaft seal and/or the ATF breather may be leaking.
Establish the actual cause of the fault before changing the parts.
Leaking radial input shaft seals must be replaced.
Leaking ATF breathers must be replaced.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Puller T40014

Thrust pad T40015

Removing
-

Transmission removed.

-

Screw puller T40014 into radial shaft seal by hand until tool engages securely in radial shaft seal. Then tighten tool using an open-ended wrench.

Shaft seal can be pulled out part way by screwing in rear bolt of puller.

Tighten tool again using open-ended wrench so that puller grips radial shaft seal, and then pull out shaft seal further by screwing in bolt.

Repeat process until radial shaft seal has been completely removed.
