Ball Joint: Service and Repair

Upper Ball Joint Removing and Installing

Remove wheel.

-

Unscrew hex bolts for control arm to axle beam.

Unscrew hex bolt-2- and remove control arm -1

Installing

Installation is the reverse of removal.
-

Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent. The bolted connections should therefore only be tightened when the vehicle is
standing on the ground.

Otherwise, the rubber bushing will be stressed and have a shortened service life.

Tightening torques:

Control arm to axle beam ........................................................................................................................................................................................  95 Nm
Control arm to wheel bearing housing ...........................................................................................................................................................  70 Nm + 90°
