Oil Pressure Sender: Testing and Inspection
With VAG Tester 1598

0.3 bar oil pressure switch

-

Connect VAG 1598/4 adapter harness to 26-point instrument cluster connector (green).

-

Connect adapter harness to VAG 1598A test box.

-

Set digital multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent) to measure resistance (Ohm).

-

Connect multimeter between socket 5 of VAG 1598A test box and Ground (GND).

-

Must be 0 ohms (continuity)

-

Start engine.

-

Must be infinity ohms (no continuity)

If specified results are not obtained:
-

Check wiring for open circuit according to wiring diagram, repair as necessary, or

-

Replace oil pressure switch.

Connect VAG 1598/13 adapter harness to 14-point instrument cluster connector (black).

-

Connect adapter harness to VAG 1598A test box.

-

Set digital multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent) to measure resistance (Ohm).

-

Connect multimeter between socket 22 of VAG 1598A test box and ground.

-

Must be infinity ohms (no continuity)

-

Start engine.

-

Must be 0 ohms (continuity)

If specified results are not obtained:
-

Check wiring for open circuit according to wiring diagram, repair as necessary, or

-

Replace oil pressure switch.
