MMS-311 Fuel and Ignition System, ECM Coding

Condition

With the introduction of the latest Motor Management System MMS-311, coding the Electronic Control Module (ECM) has changed.

Service

To identify the MMS-311 system and code the Control Module, use the following sequence:

^ Connect 1551 Scan Tool.

^ Verify vehicle is equipped with MMS-311 using 1551 printout of ECM part number (8A0 906 266E) or check engine block for engine code AFC.

^ To code Control Module select address word 01, Function 07.

^ Enter correct 5 digit code from listing, then press the Q button to confirm code entry.

^ Press the right arrow button, select Function 02 "Interrogate DTC Memory". Press the right arrow button, select Function 05 "Erase DTC Memory".

^ Press the right arrow button, then select Function 06 "end output".

^ Road Test vehicle to assure driveability is OK and the warning light does not come on.

^ Recheck system to assure no Diagnostic Trouble Codes are stored.
