To replace, press off outer CV joint
When sliding onto shaft, grease bead on shaft lightly and carefully pull boot on with wedge VAG 1474/5 (component of tool VAG 1474) - Fig. 4

Check for cracks and abrasions
Before tightening small clamp, ventilate boot briefly - Fig. 3

When assembling, install in ring groove on shaft (not visible with CV joint installed)

10. CV joint, outer

98 mm (3.8 in) outer diameter
Replace only as complete assembly

To install, gently drive joint onto shaft with plastic hammer, engage up to circlip

Clamp drive axle in vise with jaw covers.
Remove clamp.
Push back boot.
Turn in M16 threaded end of special tool 3207 until CV joint is pressed off splined shaft.
