Take out before removing ball stop

20. Ball housing

Restriction for ball stop on left and right must be installed

-

Install so that detent for reverse gear faces toward left

21. Shift linkage mounting
22. Nut

-

10 Nm (7 ft lb) 

23. Reinforcing plate
24. Self-locking nut

-

Always replace

-

10 Nm (7 ft lb) 

25. Bolt
26. Rear shift rod
27. Boot

-

To remove and install:
Remove three way catalytic converter
Unscrew front and rear crossmembers
Remove heat shield
Carefully pull over shift rod

Note:  When complete shift linkage has been removed, bellows can also be installed from inside passenger compartment.

28. Shift rod with joint
29. Clamp
30. Bolt

-

25 Nm (18 ft lb)

-

Before removing, remove front and rear crossmembers and heat shield

31. Self-locking bolt

-

Always replace

-

20 Nm (15 ft lb)

Note:  Adjusting shift linkage, refer to Adjustments.

become unreliable and may fall when used a second time. This includes, but is not limited to nuts, bolts, washers, self-locking nuts or bolts,
circlips, and cotter pins. Always follow the recommendations given in this publication. For replacements always use new parts.
