Oil Pressure Sender: Testing and Inspection

Note:  For the functional check and servicing of the optical and acoustic oil pressure warning:
Refer to Powertrain Management.

Test sequence

Remove oil pressure switch -F1- and install in tester.

Install tester into oil pan in place of oil pressure switch.

Connect brown wire of tester to Ground (GND).

Using auxiliary cables from VW1594 connector test kit, connect VAG1527B voltage tester to Battery Positive Voltage (B+) and to oil pressure
switch.

-

tart engine and increase engine speed (RPM) slowly.

-

At 1.2 - 1.6 bar (17 - 23 psi) LED must light up

-

If LED does not light up, replace oil pressure switch.

-

Increase RPM further.

-

At 2000 RPM and an oil temperature of at least 80°C (176°F) oil pressure should be at least 2.0 bar (29 psi).
