Disconnect electrical harness connector -1- at Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Pump Motor -V101-.
NOTE: Illustration is shown with bumper removed.

Connect VAG1527B voltage tester between terminals 1 and 2
-
Initiate output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) and activate Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Pump Relay -J299-.

LED must blink.
-
Perform the following tests marked with dots:

Check wire connection from terminal 2 of connector to Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Pump Relay -J299- (in relay carrier in E-Box, plenum
chamber, position 2) for open circuit.

Check wire connection from terminal 1 of connector to Ground (GND) for open circuit:
If no malfunctions are detected:

Replace Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump motor.
