Additional Safety Precautions For Head-level Airbag (from Calendar Week 36.02)

ALL the safety precautions for driver-side and passenger-side airbags apply, as well as the following.

A visual check for damage of vehicle trim panel must be run before every installation.

There must not be any repair work performed on vehicle trim panel (A-pillar trim top, B top, C top and D-pillar trim top).

Make sure trim panel is securely fitted during installation.

Head-level airbag module must only be folded at its intended location (transition of roof to A-pillar).

For repair work behind the head-level airbag, always remove the entire module.

Bent igniters must not be straightened.

After removal, place head-level airbag module into transport container on a clean, even surface (on a blanket or in luggage compartment).

After servicing body in vicinity of airbag, check body for welding beads, deformations and chafe marks (compare with opposite side of vehicle).

Always hold head-level airbag securely.

After removal, always fold head-level airbag module and grasp by igniter (thumbs towards E-connection).

Always keep one hand on igniter
-
Never twist, wind, bend, throw, spin, pull, hang, squeeze, press, pinch or clamp head-level airbag module.

If any contamination penetrates into the fabric, like oil, grease, lacquer, paint or solvent, the module must always be replaced.
