Oil Seals For Flange Shafts

Oil seals for flange shafts, replacing

 
Special tools and equipment 

-

2062 driver

-

Observe general repair notes.

-

Rear final drive installed

Note:  All illustrations show the left side of the final drive. Removing and installing joint flange and oil seal on right side is identical.

Removing drive shaft 

-

Remove heat shields at drive flange (arrows).

-

Place drip tray underneath.

-

Disconnect drive axle.

-

To loosen securing bolt, thread in 2 bolts into drive flange and counter hold with tire iron.

-

Pry out O-ring with tire iron.

Installing drive shaft 

Installation is reverse of removal, noting the following:
-

Lubricate area between sealing lip and dust lip with a thin layer of multipurpose grease.
