Brake Pedal

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)

Removing

-

Remove cover on the driver side. 

-

Remove the brake lamp switch. Refer to => [ Brake Light Switch ] See: Lighting and Horns/Brake Light Switch/Service and Repair.

Remove the brake lamp sensor. Refer to => [ Brake Lamp Sensor ] See: Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators/Lamp Out
Indicator/Lamp Out Sensor/Service and Repair.

Disconnect brake pedal from brake booster. Refer to => [ Brake Booster ] See: Power Brake Assist/Vacuum Brake Booster/Service and Repair

-

Remove Torx flange bolt - 3 -.

-

Loosen retainer - 1 - on right side and remove pins -  5 -.

-

Remove brake pedal.

Installing

Installation is the reverse of removal, with special attention to the following:

Brake Pedal and Brake Booster, Connecting

-

Hold ball head of push rod in front of mounting and push brake pedal in direction of brake booster, so the ball head locates audibly.

Brake light switch, installing. Refer to=> [ Brake Light Switch ] See: Lighting and Horns/Brake Light Switch/Service and Repair

Install the brake lamp sensor. Refer to => [ Brake Lamp Sensor ] See: Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators/Lamp Out
