Headlamp Igniter Module: Service and Repair

Gas Discharge Headlamp or Gas Discharge Headlamp With Dynamic Cornering Lamp

Ignition Coil For Gas Discharge Lamp, Removing And Installing

CAUTION:

HIGH VOLTAGE: Always disconnect negative ( - ) battery terminal prior to working on parts of HID headlamp components marked with yellow
"HIGH VOLTAGE" warning symbols.

Removing

-

With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (GND) wire.

Left headlamp - vehicles with 6-cyl. Gasoline engine:

-

Remove reservoir for power steering.

Right headlamp - vehicles with 6-cyl. Gasoline engine:

-

Remove air filter housing.

Right headlamp - vehicles with 4.2l MPI engine:

-

Remove air filter housing.

All:

-

Release securing guides - arrows - and remove headlamp housing cover.

-

If present, pivot securing clip - 1 - for electrical harness connector to side.

-

Rotate ignition coil - 2 - for gas discharge lamp counter-clockwise - arrow -.

-

Disconnect harness connector - 3 - at ignition coil for gas discharge lamp.

-

Remove ignition coil for gas discharge lamp.

Installing

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

NOTE:  Harness connector must only be connected with ignition coil installed.
