Battery Switch-Off Relay J655 , Removing And Installing -vehicles Up To Approx. 06/04

NOTE:  The Battery Switch-Off Relay J655 disconnects the circuit electrically. The Battery Switch-Off Relay J655 must always be replaced after a
deployment.

Removing

-

Remove battery.

-

Release clips -arrows- and open cover - 1 - over Battery Switch-Off Relay.

-

Remove nuts - 1 - and - 3 - as well as bolts - 4 - from plus cables. 

-

Remove Battery Switch-Off Relay J655 - Item 2 - from retainer.

-

Remove right luggage compartment side trim panel.

-

Disconnect electrical connector - arrow - on relay and fuse holder in right luggage compartment.

-

Disconnect electrical connector.

-

Lay open electrical wire from Battery Switch-Off Relay J655. 

Installing

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

-

Connect battery ground strap.

-

Follow measures after connecting battery.

-

Finally, check DTC memory for airbag control module using and process if necessary.
