Remote Control Key Battery: Warning Symbol in Driver's Information Display Intermittently Illuminates
Model(s):
A6 Sedan
2005 --> up to VIN 4F_5N086341
Condition
"Battery in remote control" warning symbol intermittently illuminates in driver's information display of instrument cluster, which indicates remote
control battery has zero voltage while the remote functions normally.
DTC 00955 Key (X), lower limit not reached, may sporadically be logged into the access start control unit (address 05). Remote control battery voltage
is 3.0 V or higher.
Possible Cause:
Voltage collapse/disruption within remote control unit, possibly caused by reduced tolerances due to strong use of remote control buttons and / or
twisting of key blade.
Production
New access start control unit (address 05) software version 160, introduced into production beginning with VIN 4F_5N086341
Service
Tip:
DO NOT replace remote control unit.
-
Update (reflash) software of access start control unit with Update CD Part No: 8N0 906 961 and the VAS 5051/ 5052.
Update - Programming (Flashing) Procedure:
Tip:
When performing reflash procedure, ALL DTCs for all Systems are erased.
DTCs linked to Guided Fault Finding function tests will be lost. Therefore, always address stored DTCs for customer concerns unrelated to reflash
procedure first.
Tool Requirements:
VAS 5051 or 5052 (with base CD V.08.00.00 and Brand CD V.08.44.00 or higher) with old diagnosis logs erased prior to start.
Update - Programming (Flashing) CD Part No: 8N0 906961.
Approved battery charger.
Tip:
The battery must have minimum no-load charge of 12.5 volts (failure to maintain voltage during update process can lead to ECM failure). Use approved
battery charger to maintain battery voltage.
Additional copies of "Update - Programming" (Flashing) CD Part No: 8N0 906 961 may be ordered from the Audi Technical Literature Ordering Center.
