Seat Occupant Sensor: Removal and Replacement
Passive Occupant Detection System (Pods) Belt Latch For Passenger Airbag Deactivation, Removing
and Installing

Passive Occupant Detection System (PODS) Belt Latch For Passenger Airbag Deactivation, Removing And Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

-

Torque wrench V.A.G 1331

NOTE:  The seat occupied recognition passenger airbag deactivation belt latch is only installed on passenger side.

CAUTION:
-

The seat occupied recognition passenger airbag deactivation belt latch must be replaced each time passenger belt tensioner deploys.

-

Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.

Removing

-

Remove seat: on standard seat; on electric seat.

-

Remove belt buckle - 1 - screw - 4 -.

-

Disconnect wiring harness on connector - 2 - that leads to Seat Occupied Recognition Control Module J706 wiring harness.

Installing

Installation is reverse of removal. When doing so, note the following:

CAUTION:  Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.

Tightening torques for bolt - 4 - : 24 Nm

Ensure cable is secured in position - 3 -. 

NOTE:  If seat occupied recognition passenger airbag deactivation belt latch is replaced, seat occupied recognition registration sheet must be
filled out with serial number and bar code sticker from new belt latch and sent to manufacturer.
