Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1332)

‹› Ring Spanner Insert VAG 1332/10 (V.A.G 1332/7)

‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1576)

‹› Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051 B) with corresponding diagnostic cable.

‹› Ball joint puller (T40042)

‹› Ball joint puller (T40043)

‹› CV joint boot clamp tool (T40067)

Removing

Affects vehicles with air suspension

-

Place vehicle on a hoist. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] See: Steering and Suspension/Suspension/Service and

Perform system vent using (VAS 5051 B). Refer to => [ System, Venting or Filling ] See: Steering and Suspension/Suspension/Suspension
Control ( Automatic - Electronic )/Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics/System, Venting or Filling.

Affects all vehicles

-

Remove wheel covers, remove cover cap on light-alloy wheels (removal hook in vehicle tool kit).

Loosen collar bolt for outer joint of drive axle (only loosen when vehicle is standing on its wheels "danger of accident". Refer to => [ Drive Axle

Loosening and Tightening.

Remove ABS speed sensor wiring from wheel bearing housing bracket. 

-

Remove brake caliper and secure to body so weight of caliper does not stress or damage brake hose or brake line.

Remove ABS speed sensor bolt - 5 -.
