Check for open circuit or short to B+ in wiring of connector for relevant camshaft adjustment solenoid valve.

2-pin connector on

Socket on 

wiring harness, terminal

VAG 1598/31 test box

Resistance in wiring: max. 1.5 ohms

Correct any open or short circuits. 

If no open or short circuits are identified

Replace Engine Control Module (ECM).

Display readiness code, Refer to "Monitors, Trips and/or Drive Cycle (Readiness Codes)/Displaying Readiness Code" See: Powertrain
Management/Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection . If DTC memory was erased generate readiness code, Refer to "Monitors,
Trips and/or Drive Cycle (Readiness Codes)/Generating Readiness Code" See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Testing
and Inspection

If no malfunctions have been identified in any of the tests so far, replace relevant mechanical camshaft adjuster.
