Camshaft Oil Seal: Service and Repair

Camshaft oil seals, removing and installing 

Special tools and equipment

Removing 

Note:  If one oil seal is leaking, replace seals on both sides.

^

Remove toothed belt from camshaft sprockets, Refer to Engine; Service and Repair.

^

Align inner part of 3240 with outer part and secure with set screw.

^

Lubricate threaded part of 3240 with oil, apply to seal and with pressure screw into seal as far as possible.

^

Release set screw and turn inner part against camshaft until seal is extracted.

^

Place extractor in vice (at flat surfaces) and remove seal with pliers.

^

Clean sealing surface on camshaft.

Installing 

Note:  Do not lubricate sealing lip and outside seal ring.
