Test conditions
^
Transmission must not be in "emergency running" mode
^
Vehicle must be on level ground
^
Selector lever in "P", engine running at idle.
^
A/C and heater switched off.
^
At the beginning of the test, the ATF temperature must not be higher than 30°C (86°F). If necessary let transmission cool down.
Note:

Only add ATF (color: colorless to yellow). Do not use any additives.

ATF is available as replacement part: Part No. G 052 162 A2, 1.0 L container
^
ATF level changes with ATF temperature. An ATF level check when temperature is too low leads to overfilling. An ATF level check at too
high an ATF temperature leads to under filling.
^
Overfilling and under filling. adversely affects the function of the transmission.
^
The ATF temperature can be read with the Vehicle Diagnostic, Test and Information System or at the display of the V.A.G 1551 Scan Tool.

Connect Vehicle Diagnostic, Test and Information System VAS 5051 with adapter cable VAS 5051/1. Or connect V.A.G 1551 Scan Tool with
adapter cable V.A.G 1551/3 to Data Link Connector (DLC) under knee bar under steering wheel.

Start engine.
Indicated on display:
^
Enter "08" for function "Reading measuring value block" and confirm input by pressing "Q" button.
