The coolant level warning light in the instrument cluster may activate during cold starts at temperatures under (4°C) 40°F due to high contact resistance
caused by deposits on the electrodes in the coolant reservoir.

PRODUCTION SOLUTION 

An improved coolant reservoir with longer level sensor electrodes is installed during vehicle production.

SERVICE

1. Verify correct coolant level and make sure that the coolant temperature gauge functions correctly.

2. Compare the coolant temperature in the measured value blocks of the engine control unit/instrument cluster during a short test drive. The displayed
values should be roughly the same.

3. If the coolant level is correct and the gauge is functioning properly, replace the coolant reservoir.
