July 15, 2010

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 24 number 10-34 dated June 16, 2010 for reasons listed below.

Affected Vehicles

Condition

^ Engine doesn't start.

^ The following DTC entries may be logged in the fault memory individually or in combination:

^

P0087 (Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too Low).

^

P0088 (Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too High).

^

P310 B (Low Fuel Pressure Regulation, fuel pressure outside of tolerance).

Technical Background

A general increase of the rail pressure after shutting off engine is normal, but rail pressure that is too high (above 140bar) can prevent the starting
authorization.

This can be caused by incorrectly installed or malfunctioning pressure relief valves or a blockage on the low fuel pressure system return lines.
