Power Steering Fluid: Service and Repair

Power steering fluid level, checking 

-

With engine not running, move front wheels in straight-ahead position.

Fluid, when cold (ca. 20°C): 
-

Remove screw cap.

Clean off oil dipstick with a clean rag. Install cap on hand-tight and remove again. 

Note:

Install cap fully in to get an accurate fluid level reading.

Check oil level: Oil level must be located in area - A - 

Fluid at operating state temperature (approx. 80°C): 
-

Remove screw cap.

-

Clean off oil dipstick with a clean rag.

-

Install cap on hand-tight and remove again.

Note:

Install cap fully in to get an accurate fluid level reading.

Check oil level: Oil level must be within area - B -.

Note: 
^

If fluid level is above the mark, some fluid must be siphoned off
