Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 B

CAUTION:  Note safety precautions for working on airbags and side airbags.

Switch on ignition. 

NOTE:  Contrary to description "Disconnecting and Connecting Battery", battery must be disconnected when removing airbag with ignition
switched on.

Remove luggage compartment floor trim.

-

Disconnect battery ground strap - arrow -.

-

Remove rear seat bench 

NOTE:  Left and right side airbags can we switched on individually.

There is a connection for left and right each in "C-pillar".

CAUTION:  Before disconnecting connectors, technician must discharge electrostatic energy. To do this, briefly touch door lock, for
example.

Cut through connector cable ties.
