The driver may unknowingly influence the Easy Entry feature in four different ways to cause this condition.

^ If the driver inadvertently touches / bumps the adjustment knob (Figure 1, A) of the steering column when exiting or entering the vehicle, this position

is then stored as the last position in the vehicle electrical system control unit, J519. After this occurs and the next time the ignition is switched on, the
steering column will change position slightly or not at all.

^ The same situation can happen if, after removing the key from the ignition switch, the customer operates one of the electrical system components (the

radio, for example) when the electrical bus systems have entered sleep mode. When the electrical bus systems are woken without the ignition switch
turned on, the current position of the steering column is then stored as the new position in J519 before the electrical bus systems return to sleep mode.

^ The memory may be lost due to the battery not being completely charged (vehicle parked for a long period).

^ If a vehicle is older or has a weak battery, convenience functions are switched off when more power is needed to ensure that the engine starts

correctly. This also affects the Easy Entry function.

SERVICE

Instruct the customer to reprogram the desired position of the steering column or use the seat memory button (if available) to return the steering column
to the memorized position.

The position selected with the seat memory button is automatically stored in the vehicle electrical system control unit, J519.
