Open plug -arrow- of differential cover and extract about 0.5 L of gear oil from final drive with oil extraction appliance VAG 1358 A or
equivalent.
Note: When gear oil is extracted the problem of gear oil mixing with the ATF is avoided. Gear oil mixing with the ATF in the transmission can
result in operational malfunctions of the hydraulic components.

Remove heat shield for left drive axle.

Remove left drive axle.

Remove Speedometer Vehicle Speed Sensor -G22-.

Remove mounting bracket for left flange shaft -arrows-.

Pull out left shaft.
Note: With the transmission installed, the Jeff flange shaft can be pulled out between body and subframe if the mounting bracket of the flange
shaft is turned about 60 to the right, away from the installed location.
Removing

Remove circlip -arrow A- for ball bearing.
