Affected Vehicles
Condition
^ Remote transmitter key electronically does not lock and/or unlock the doors/trunk.
^ Remote transmitter key panic button is missing.
The key still functions mechanically.
Technical Background
^ Voltage loss due to insufficient battery contacts within the remote transmitter key.

Fault codes found in the access start control unit, address word 05, are:
-- DTC 00955 (Key 1, lower limit not reached).
-- DTC 00956 (Key 2, lower limit not reached).
-- DTC 00957 (Key 3, lower limit not reached).
-- DTC 00958 (Key 4, lower limit not reached).
^ Panic button mounting tabs break, allowing panic button to separate from remote transmitter key.
Production Solution
^ Introduction of gold battery contacts.
^ Introduction of improved panic button mounting tabs.
Service
1. Verify the number of remote transmitter keys that do not function.
^ If two or more remote transmitter keys do not function, perform central locking system diagnosis.
^ If one remote transmitter key does not function, check remote transmitter key battery voltage.
