Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Multimeter V.A.G 1526 A or equivalent.

Test Box 105 Pin VAG1598/42 .
-
Adapter Lead VAG 1598/39 VAG1598/39-1 .
Test requirements
-
Fuel Pump (FP) Control Module J538 OK; check.
-
The fuses for the engine electronics OK.
-
The fuel filter OK The parking brake engaged.
-
The battery voltage at least 12.5 V.
-
The selector lever of automatic transmission in position "P" or "N".
-
All electrical consumers switched off (radiator fan must NOT run during test).
-
A/C switched off.
-
The fuel tank at least 1 / 4 filled.
-
The ignition switched off.
Procedure
Checking voltage

Disconnect the 14 pin electrical harness connector - 3 - for Fuel Pressure Sensor G247 from the left rear of the engine.
-
Using the Multimeter V.A.G. 1526 A or equivalent, check the Fuel Pressure Sensor G247 for voltage at the 14 pin electrical harness connector.

about 5 V
If specified value is obtained:

Remove the intake manifold upper-part and replace the Fuel Pressure Sensor G247 : 3.2 V6 4 V Engine Mechanical, Engine Code(s):
If the specified value was not obtained:
Checking wiring connections

Connect the test box 1598/42 to the wiring harness of the SIMOS Control Module J361 with adapter cable 1598/39-1; the ECM is not connected.

Using the Test Box 105 Pin VAG1598/42 and Multimeter V.A.G 1526 A or equivalent, check the following wire connection for an open circuit.
