Vehicles with pyrotechnic belt tensioners

-

Disconnect the electrical connector for the pyrotechnic belt tensioner => [ Disconnect the electrical connector for the pyrotechnic belt tensioner. ].

-

Unclip wire from belt tensioner.

Procedure for all vehicles

-

Remove screw - 3 -.

-

Push belt roller/belt tensioner - 1 - back opposite drive direction until screw - 3 - is located in larger area of keyhole-shaped cut-out.

Remove the belt roller/tensioner - 1 -.

‹› Installing

-

Engage the belt roller/tensioner - 1 - with the bolt -  3 - and the lock washer - 4 - in the key-shaped openings in the mount on the wheel housing.

-

Push belt roller/belt tensioner - 1 - forward in driving direction to stop.

-

Tighten screw - 3 - to specified torque.

Vehicles with pyrotechnic belt tensioners

-

Clip wire into retainer on belt tensioner.

-

Connect the electrical connector for the pyrotechnic belt tensioner => [ Connect the electrical connector for the pyrotechnic belt tensioner. ].

Procedure for all vehicles

Install rear outer floor assembly anchorage point => [ Outer Rear Floor Assembly Anchorage Point ]. See: Outer Rear Floor Assembly Anchorage

Ensure belt roller/belt tensioner - 1 - is not obstructed by wires, insulation, etc.

-

Install the luggage compartment side trim => [ Luggage Compartment Side Trim ] See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Service and
Repair/Removal and Replacement/Trim, Avant. 

Vehicles with pyrotechnic belt tensioners

-

Perform belt wear detection => [ Rear Three Point Seat Belt with Belt Tensioner, Checking Belt Fastening Detection ] See: Testing and
Inspection/Seat Belts, Inspecting.

Securing hook

‹› On belt roller/tensioner base plate

Screw - 55 Nm

‹› In delivery casing

‹› If rear outer three-point seat belt is being removed for accident repairs, replace screw

Disconnect the electrical connector for the pyrotechnic belt tensioner.
