Seat Cover: Service and Repair
Fixed Backrest

Fixed rear backrest
Removing:
-

Remove fixed rear backrest. See: Seat Back/Service and Repair 

-

Remove center armrest. See: Interior Moulding / Trim/Arm Rest/Service and Repair/Procedures 

-

Detach hooks -2- at sides and at cut-out for center armrest.

-

Cut through upholstery clips -3-.

-

Roll backrest cover fabric -4- forward.

-

Pry fastening strip from fastening groove -5- at head restraints cut-outs.

-

Lift seat cover fabric -4- and cut through upholstery clips (inset -A-).

Installing:
-

Use VAG1634 stapling tool to install new upholstery clips.

-

When installing a new backrest panel, bend retaining tabs -6- inward approx. 1-2 mm (1/16 in.) to provide better support for fastening
strip.

-

Using upholstery clips, install transverse rods first, then longitudinal rods.

-

When installing new backrest cover, cut out holes for head restraints and center armrest attachment.
